The Village Bank is proud to announce we have earned the AARP’s award-winning BankSafe seal in recognition of the training and policies we have in place to better protect older Americans from financial exploitation.
The Bank is one of 140 financial institutions to earn the 2023 seal, which certifies that employees have completed a training program focused on protecting customers from fraud and other financial exploitation. To qualify, institutions must train at least 80 percent of their front-line employees through the BankSafe platform, which uses videos and other exercises that help identify red flags and stop financial exploitation before it happens.
Cases of financial exploitation with older Americans have nearly doubled since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of The Village Bank’s top priorities is to protect customers from these serious incidents. To learn more about the BankSafe seal, visit aarp.org/banksafe.
