The Village Bank announced today that it has partnered with the City of Newton’s Department of Health & Human Services to sponsor a Sock & Essentials Drive during the month of March.
The Bank invites customers, friends, and neighbors to bring donations of new adult sized socks and toiletries, including neck pouch wallets, travel size lotion, chapstick, wipes, nail clippers, band-aids, mints and gum, and heatpacks to any one of The Village Bank branch locations in Newton – Auburndale, Newton Centre, Newton Highlands, Newtonville, Nonantum, Waban, West Newton – during the month of March.
“Those surviving on the streets face a myriad of challenges. The Village Bank is pleased to have the opportunity to use our network to help solicit these small donations, which can make a big impact in the lives of the homeless,” said Joseph De Vito, president and CEO of The Village Bank.
“People without homes spend an inordinate amount of time on their feet. Having warm socks can help them be more comfortable. We encourage members of the community to provide donations, along with toiletries that can help them ensure better health and hygiene,” said Pamela Weissman, LICSW, Director of Social Services City of Newton.
