Meet Matt, Fraud Prevention Supervisor
My name is Matt Spa. I’m a fraud prevention supervisor, and I’ve been with the bank for over eight years.
What do you do in your role?
My job involves looking at data for potential fraud situations, helping customers when they’ve experienced fraud and helping them get back to a place of security.
What makes your job rewarding?
There’s a different situation every day, but it’s very rewarding to help people. It’s rewarding to stop fraud.
How do you live The Village Bank Pledge everyday?
In my opinion, never leaving the customer stranded is how the fraud department operates. So, you know, when fraud occurs,it’s a very vulnerable feeling, and being able to get someone from a feeling of vulnerability to a place of security. That to me is what living the pledge is all about.
What do you want people to know about The Village Bank?
The Village Bank really does care for its customers. It’s not like bigger banks. I’ve worked at bigger banks. It’s a very different feeling here, and they care about their employees as well. I’ve had a lot of experiences, a lot of chances to learn and grow, training and support, from my teammates and from others, so it really is just a very different experience working for the Village Bank.
What is your first step to help those at risk of or impacted by fraud?
Figuring out the scope of how big the situation is and helping make sure that the customer is as secure as possible, um, is gonna be our first step. So, making sure that, you know, if an account number was given out, was something else given out, what can we do to help make them safe again?
Village Bank Customer can rest easy – Matt is always watching!
